Tyson fell and became trapped underneath the trolley car.  Emergency crews and paramedics were able to rescue the man by shutting off the rail system and using air bags to lift the car up.  Tyson was taken to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania with non-life-threatening leg injuries.

The two workers were pouring concrete at the intersection of Dupue Avenue and Byberry Road, in Northeast Philadelphia, shortly before 10:45 a.m., when an elderly woman lost control of her vehicle and struck the men, according to officials with the Philadelphia Police Department. The workers were transported to Aria Health’s Torresdale Campus in serious condition after the crash. The men sustained multiple fractures, but are expected to survive, police say.

Firefighters worked to free the female driver from her vehicle, which struck a utility pole. Medics transported her to Aria Health after the accident, with minor injuries.

Police continue to investigate the cause of the crash.

According to officials with the Philadelphia Police Department, the accident occurred while officers were in the process of making an arrest at the intersection of Frankford and Torresdale Avenues, in the city’s Frankford section shortly after 1:45 a.m. Tuesday.

Witnesses say the driver of a Ford Explorer lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a nearby parked car. The force of the impact sent the parked vehicle into the police cruiser. The cruiser then struck one of the officers.

The injured police officer was transported to Temple University Hospital in good condition with some bumps and bruises.

The driver of the Ford Explorer is being investigated as possibly being under the influence at the time of the crash.

According to officials with the Philadelphia Police Accident Investigation Department, the tour bus was traveling along Broad Street near the Somerville Avenue intersection when the accident occurred. The bus struck a car near the intersection, which forced the bus off the roadway.

The bus then crashed into the front of a home. George Patterson said he was in his home when he saw the bus coming through the living room.

“I heard a small crash at first then a real loud one… I was just diving on the floor to keep from getting hit by the bus,” Petterson said.

Investigators say there were no passengers on board the bus at the time. However a statement released by the Philadelphia Police Department said at least one of the drivers was transported to Einstein Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police continue to investigate the cause of the accident. Patterson was not injured in the crash.

The collision occurred shortly after 11:00 a.m. on Eaton Run Road near the intersection of Route 21, according to troopers at the Waynesburg barracks. According to officials with the Pennsylvania State Police, Bethanie Orwig and Holly Lowry, both of Nemacolin, died at the crash scene. Another victim, identified as Shelvia Lough, was transported to Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, West Virginia.

Lough’s boyfriend, Chris West, said the 29 year-old will require surgery. “They said she was stable, but I didn’t know the extent of the injuries because all I know is her car was demolished,” West said.

The woman, whose name police have not released, was traveling south on 61st Street shortly after 11:20 p.m. Saturday in a black Buick. According to officer Tanya Little of the Philadelphia Police Department, the woman was stopped at a traffic light when a green Saturn driven by a 31 year-old man crashed into her car, forcing it into the intersection, where it was struck by a westbound Kia Optima.

The woman driving the Buick, believed to be in her 30’s, was pronounced dead at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.

The accident remains under investigation.

According to police the deceased driver was identifed as 21 year-old Sean V. Finnegean, and his deceased front passenger was identified as 18 year-old Paul Richards. Police say another passenger, 21 year-old Stanislav Gomberg, of Ossing, New York, was transported via helicopter to Geisinger Medical Center for treatment of major injuries.

According to preliminary reports, Gomberg was in the back seat of the 1998 Nissan Altima, and was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. Gomberg was listed in serious condition at Geisinger on Monday morning, according to a hospital spokeswoman.

The two deceased men were wearing seatbelts, police say.

According to officials with the Pennsylvania State Police Department, the 32 year-old driver, Jason S. Lightner, of Chambersburg, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident shortly before 3:00 a.m. accident by Franklin County Coroner Jeffrey R. Conner. Lightner’s passenger, 32 year-old Michael J. Jackson, of Chambersburg was transported to Chambersburg Hospital following the crash. He was pronounced dead shortly after.

Police say the accident occurred on Sollenberger Road north of Brechbill Road when the 2003 Audi A4 that Lightner was driving failed to negotiate a left turn. The vehicle traveled off the west side of the road and struck a tree, police say.

According to officials with the Conemaugh Township Police Department, 76 year-old Norman Brown was killed in the fire. Firefighters found the victim inside a vehicle that had crashed through the door of a garage. The property is located on Tunnelton Road in Conemaugh Township.

According to the Armstrong County Coroner’s Office, asphyxia due to smoke inhalation was Brown’s  cause of death. X-rays were used to identify brown due to the severity of his injuries from the fire. Officials could not comment on how the accident occurred, or what caused the fire.

The accident remains under investigation.

A Philadelphia man was killed in a car accident Wednesday on Interstate 80.

According to officials with the Pennsylvania State Police at Rockview, 19 year-old David K. Doughty Jr. was traveling westbound on I-80 near mile marker 159 when he lost control of his vehicle. The car cut across two lanes of traffic, went off the right shoulder and crached into a rock embankment, police say.

According to Centre County Coroner Scott Sayers said Doughty was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, and was partially ejected from the vehicle. The accident was reported shortly before 2:00 p.m. and closed two lanes of traffic on I-80.
