Construction worker loses fingers in workplace accident

Posted on February 8th, 2011 No Comments

Last week, a construction worker was involved in what police called a “workplace accident.”  The worker, a 62-year old East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania man, was contracted to do work at the North Commerce Square site in Robbinsville, New Jersey.  Construction crews are building lofts at the work site.

Reports state that the man was using a table saw when two and a half of his fingers were cut off.  When police arrived at the scene of the accident, officers collected the man’s amputated fingers, placed them in a glove and filled the glove with ice in an attempt to save them.

Paramedics then transported the construction worker to Capital Health Regional Medical Center.  He was later transferred to Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia for special treatment.
