Last Tuesday, a car accident occurred involving a handicapped pedestrian and student at Franklin & Marshall. At 9:54 AM, the student crossed from the College Row side of Harrisburg Ave. to the campus side at the intersection of College Ave.. When crossing, a vehicle made a last minute left turn and hit the student. Reports indicate that the driver of the vehicle could not see the student as he was crossing the street because cars traveling in the opposite direction blocked his view.
Emergency crews arrived on scene and transported the student to a nearby hospital. Investigators used surveillance video footage to determine that the student had the right of way in the accident.

A two-vehicle accident occurred last night between a SEPTA (Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority) bus and DRPA (Delaware River Port Authority) vehicle. The DRPA vehicle was traveling westbound on Spruce when it collided with the SEPTA bus traveling northbound on 16th Street. The two then crashed into Tom Peters’ Monk’s Cafe.
Peters, who lives in one of the apartments above his restaurant, said he was awoken by the accident to see a cloud of dust and the bus partially inside his restaurant. All apartment residents were evacuated from the building and fortunately, none were injured.
The two drivers involved in the accident were transported to Jefferson Hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries.
