Penn. malpractice cases drop nearly 40 percent

Posted on May 27th, 2010 No Comments

Medical malpractice cases in Pennsylvania have lowered nearly 40 percent since new requirements have been issued to meet new standards.

Philadelphia has seen the largest drop in cases, a 60 percent decrease.  Last year, in the state of Pennsylvania there were 1,533 malpractice cases filed which is a 44 percent decrease from the years of 2000-2002.

The new requirements say that attorneys must receive a certificate of merit from a medical professional that will testify that the medical care did not meet medical standards.
