Pennsylvania Man Killed in Hit-And-Run

Posted on April 26th, 2010 No Comments
Police say they know the identity of a man involved in a hit and run that killed an executive dircector of a nonprofit.
According to officials with the Wilmington Sheriff’s Department, 48 year-old Christopher White was struck and killed by a car in the 700 block of Shipley Street Thursday. The Mercedes that struck White was involved in a series of collisions prior to striking the man. The driver of the vehicle fled on foot after the crash.
“There was a man laying on the ground and they were yelling, ‘he got hit,’ my first reaction was let’s go get him,” witness Frank Fitzciles said.
Fitzciles attempted to catch the driver but lost site of the man around the intersection of 13th and Orange Streets. Master Sergeant Steven Barnes of the Wilmington Police is confident the driver will be apprehended.
“We believe we will have the individual responsible for the crime in custody very shortly,” said Barnes.
