Hundreds of people came out Monday night to honor a state trooper killed in the line of duty.
Pennsylvania State Trooper Andrew Baldridge was killed in a car accident in Wyandot County last Thursday night. Baldridge and trooper Mark McLaughlin, his field training officer, were responding to a call for back up from the Wyandot County Sherriff’s Department when their squad car veered off the right side of Township Road 95 and flipped.
McLaughlin suffered minor injuries from the crash but his sufficient recovery allowed him to attend the funeral.
More than five hundred officers from all over the country attended the funeral. Troopers from all over Ohio, Texas, Kentucky, Indiana and Pennsylvania came to pay their respects.
Michael Hetzel, Wyandot County Sherriff, said that “Andy” Baldridge always wanted to be a state trooper. He fulfilled that lifelong dream when he graduated from the State Highway Patrol Academy in December, just two months before his death.
