Posted on September 28th, 2009 No Comments

A Monongahela Coroner has released the name of a man killed by a passing car on a southwestern Pennsylvania highway.

Washington County Coroner Tim Warco has identified the man as 63-year-old Ralph Rubachko, of Charleroi.

According to Carroll Township police Rubachko was lying along Route 837 when a passing car hit him shortly before 2 a.m. on Sunday. Warco has ruled the death an accident and says Rubachko died of trauma injuries.

Police say the motorist stopped to help the victim. The driver was questioned by police and then released.

Authorities say they are unsure if Rubachko had passed out or had been previously struck by another vehicle before he was killed.

Rubachko was killed near Monongahela Valley, 15 miles southeast of Pittsburgh.
